Theft from motor vehicles alert

Theft from motor vehicles alert

There have been a number of reports of thefts from motor vehicles across the Atherton area recently.

Following the review of numerous CCTV and doorbell camera recordings, we are hopeful that we have identified the person responsible. However, one concerning theme that has become apparent is the number of vehicles being left unlocked, making them easy targets for opportunist thieves.

We would like to remind residents to take a few moments before retiring for the evening to ensure that their vehicles are locked and secure. Please also avoid leaving any valuables, bags, wallets, mobile phones, keys or other property on display inside your vehicle.

A simple check before going to bed could help prevent you from becoming the next victim of vehicle crime.

If you have any information regarding recent thefts from motor vehicles in the Atherton area, please report it via GMP online, by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
