Vehicle Crime - Halliwell & Smithills

Good Afternoon, 

Recently we have seen an increase in theft from motor vehicle offences in the Halliwell and Smithills area of Bolton during the night and early hours of the morning. If you are receiving this message, an offence has occurred nearby and we are requesting that you take preventative measures to avoid being a victim of this type of crime.

Please keep vehicles and windows locked and secure when not in use, especially overnight. Please do not leave any valuables inside your vehicles or any items on show. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to GMP using 999.

We are appealing for information in relation to a theft from motor vehicle offence which occurred on 25th September 2026 at approximately 4am. A vehicle was broken into and items were stolen from within. 

We are appealing for further information regarding this theft. Did you see anything suspicious around the time of the theft? Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV footage that may capture the offence or anyone behaving suspiciously in the area around this time. Please consider reviewing any footage you may have in the area.

In the event you have CCTV or Dashcam footage please preserve this footage by saving it or downloading it from the device and we will then be able to send you a link to upload the footage to our CCTV Portal.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Priority Crime Team, The GMP Bolton North Neighbourhood Policing Team and Forensic Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) are working hard to bring the offenders to justice and will be increasing activity and vigilance in the affected areas.
