Vehicle Seizure & Arrest

At 2230hrs on Saturday the 27th of June 2026 PS 7402 LAYTON and PC 16607 BEAZLEY have been on patrol in the WERNETH area of Oldham when they have sighted a Vauxhall Corsa driving at speed. The vehicle was followed and caused to stop on HOLLINS ROAD near LIMESIDE where checks confirmed that the driver held no insurance for the vehicle and was a provisional driving licence holder only with no appropriate supervision or L plates displayed.

Further checks highlighted that the driver was also shown as wanted by police over in Ashton for a domestic related Harassment. 

Checks on the vehicle also confirmed it had been involved in numerous residential burglaries in the Rochdale area only a week ago. 

The driver was arrested for:

Driving without a licence

Driving without insurance

Domestic Harassment

Burglary Residential

He remains in custody at this time

PS Layton and his team will continue to proactively police the roads of Chadderton and Werneth to make them safer and feel safer for the residents of Oldham.
