Arson Crimes in the area !

Good morning from your Local Coldhurst and Westwood Neighbourhood Policing Team

Just want you to be aware of 3 Incidents of Arson this month, at “Richmond School”, “Winterbottom Street” and “Ruskin Street”. 

All 3 of these Incident apparently involved youths purposely starting fires at these locations with little thought on the dangers they’re putting members of the public in, let alone having to call out the Fire Brigade that could have been utilised on more pressing jobs.

Can you help us spread the word that “Fires endanger lives” and if we catch the offenders they will be arrested and dealt with by the courts. As a reminder, children aged 10 and above can be arrested as according to the law they should know the difference between wrong and right at that age, but there’s also an ownness on parents to take responsibility on knowing what their children are up to and guide them in the right direction.

Please let all your friends and family know that the Police take crimes like Arson very seriously due to the possible threats to lives and we will be asking colleagues at the Council CCTV locations to assist in identifying the culprits.

On a lighter note most of our Muslim Community will have celebrated Eid and now its also a time for our Christian Community to celebrate Whitsuntide which usually incorporates the “Whit Walks” where some Churches will organise street marches with brass bands. Whatever your faith lets celebrate this coming weekend and ensure the area stays a great place to live.
