Nitrous Oxide & Recent Police Activity |
||
|
You may have noticed an increase in nitrous oxide canisters being left in our streets and local parks. These canisters are not only unsightly and harmful to the appearance of our neighbourhood, but their possession and distribution can also be illegal. On 21 May 2026, PC Chadwick and PC Morris acted on information provided by a local resident regarding suspected drug dealing on Dorris Street, just off St Helens Road. During their enquiries, officers identified a vehicle with no valid insurance. Upon inspection, a significant number of illegal cigarettes were also visible inside the vehicle. The car has since been seized on suspicion of being used in criminal activity. Further enquiries carried out at a nearby garage led officers to locate nine boxes of nitrous oxide, each containing multiple canisters. In addition, over 100 packets of illegal cigarettes were recovered. We hope that this seizure will disrupt the sale and supply of nitrous oxide within the area and contribute to a reduction in discarded canisters on our streets and in our parks. This successful outcome would not have been possible without the information provided by members of the community. Your support makes a real difference. Please continue to report any suspicious activity through the appropriate channels. Your neighbourhood officers will remain proactive in patrolling the area and addressing local concerns.
