Proactive Patrols Targeting ASB👮 |
||
|
Today, officers from the City Centre Neighbourhood Team and Piccadilly Gardens Team joined partners from Manchester City Council, Op Sceptre and the Rough Sleepers Team for a proactive day of action across Chinatown, the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly Gardens.
The operation focused on tackling anti-social behaviour, street drinking, drug-related activity and improving public safety within key areas of Manchester city centre.
Throughout the day, officers carried out high-visibility patrols and weapon sweeps in hotspot locations across the Northern Quarter, including searches of bushes, alleyways and hidden areas as part of Op Sceptre activity. Partners also worked alongside neighbourhood officers to help address ongoing concerns affecting the local community and businesses.
Neighbourhood officers engaged with members of the public, carried out stop searches, issued Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) to tackle ongoing anti-social behaviour, and continue ongoing work around Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) aimed at banning persistent offenders from targeted city centre locations.
Three people were arrested during the operation for a mixture of public order and drug-related offences.
Sergeant Hare from the City Centre Neighbourhood Team said: “Days of action like this are really important for both tackling crime and reassuring the public. The joint working between our City Centre Neighbourhood Team, Piccadilly Gardens Team and partner agencies shows the commitment we have to keeping Manchester city centre safe.
Our officers work hard every day alongside partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and concerns raised by residents and businesses, and we will continue carrying out proactive operations across the city centre.”
