Bike patrol

I am pleased to inform you that our PCSOs will now be conducting patrols in and around Heywood using the newly supplied electric bikes. These bikes have been introduced to enhance our ability to respond to incidents more efficiently and to increase our visibility within the community, particularly during key times such as school hours.

The electric bikes offer several advantages, including greater speed, longer range, and improved efficiency, making them ideal for urban patrols and navigating areas with traffic congestion 1 . These features will allow PCSOs to cover larger areas more effectively and ensure a quicker response to incidents, particularly in areas where traditional patrol methods may face challenges.

PCSOs will focus on being visible around schools during drop-off and pick-up times to provide reassurance to parents, staff, and students, as well as to deter any anti-social behaviour . This initiative aims to strengthen community engagement and ensure the safety of children and young people during these critical times.
