Community Safety Notice - Cold Weather Conditions |
||
|
Due to the current severe cold weather, there are dangerous icy conditions affecting roads, pavements, and public areas across Bolton Town Centre and surrounding areas. Temperatures are expected to remain low, meaning ice is unlikely to melt and conditions may worsen, particularly during the evening and overnight.
🚗 Travel Advice Residents and visitors are strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Many roads, especially side streets and untreated routes, are extremely slippery. If you must travel: Drive slowly and with extreme caution Allow extra time for journeys Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns Ensure your vehicle is fully cleared of ice and snow Carry warm clothing, a phone charger, and emergency supplies
🚶 Pedestrian Safety Pavements, steps, and car parks are also icy. Wear suitable footwear with good grip Take short, careful steps Use handrails where available Be especially cautious near crossings, bus stops, and shop entrances
👥 Look After Others Please check on elderly, vulnerable, or isolated neighbours, family members and friends. Ensure they have heating, food and any medication they need.
⚠️ Please take care, stay safe, and only travel if absolutely necessary. | ||
