Bury District update following the terrorist attack last Thursday at a Jewish synagouge in Heaton Park Prestwich

Please find an update from Bury District Senior Command Team:

In the days immediately following the tragic incident last Thursday outside Heaton Park synagogue, Bury Senior leaders, including Bury District, Senior Commander Chief Superintendent Oliver were out patrolling to safeguard and reassure the communities in Bury. Neighbourhood inspectors Gareth Edwards and Kevin Wright along with Insp Abed Hussain have been working closely with partners, co-ordinating resources and speaking with members of the public from different Communities.

Last night, I supported our officers who were deployed at various locations as part of Operation Hutton. During my time on one of the scenes, I was genuinely moved by the overwhelming support and gratitude expressed by members of the Jewish community.

Please see pictures of some items that were brought to us for our officers. I’ve since been informed that similar gestures occurred at every deployment point. The community showed sincere concern for the wellbeing of our officers, and their kindness did not go unnoticed. It was a powerful reminder of the positive relationship we continue to build with our communities, and I wanted to ensure this appreciation was formally acknowledged.
