In the early evening of Tuesday the 5th of August 2025 officers from the Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Policing Team have engaged in and completed a road traffic safety operation within the South Chadderton area and Werneth. 

Officers have focused on the FATAL 5 offences of speeding, driving whilst distracted (mobile phone use), driving without a seatbelt, drink driving & drug driving.

Officers have enforced road traffic legislation throughout the afternoon and early evening in the following areas:

Long Lane

Coalshaw Green Road

Kingston Avenue

Oxford Street

Fields New Road

The operation was a success with a vehicle being seized for being driven without insurance and two males were found to be in possession of cannabis who were dealt with at the roadside.

We will continue to proactively enforce road safety and provide a high visibility presence in the Chadderton and Werneth areas to ensure the roads are safer and feel safer to drive on for the community.
