Cash Based Businesses: Information Request

Dear Residents,

We're currently working on an important operation with the Home Office to investigate businesses that may be involved in money laundering.

What is Money laundering?

Money laundering is the process of concealing the origins of illegally obtained money, typically by passing it through a complex sequence of banking transfers or commercial transactions. The goal is to make the money appear to be legitimate or "clean.”

Our goal is to tackle illegal activities that use cash, especially in shops that handle a lot of cash transactions. This could include places like barbershops, vape shops, nail salons, mini-markets or international food stores, and technology shops as well as others

If you have any information or concerns about these businesses, please let us know. Your help is vital in keeping our community safe.
