Over the weekend Police received a call in relation to a dog on dog attack in Reddish Vale country park. This information had also been passed to the dog warden at Stockport council. According to the injured dog’s owner other people on Facebook were stating this same dog had previously attacked other dogs in the area, however from checking the police system we hadn’t been made aware of any. Joint working between the SMBC dog warden service and police made sure that the dog in question was collected yesterday. The dog warden stated “The dog was large for a Staffy/pit bull type, weighing around 50kg and looked menacing. This is a very sad situation, brought on by illegal breeding, although the outcome will be beneficial to the Community of Brinnington, particularly other dog owners/walkers”. If you are aware of any dangerous dogs in your area, then please report it to us on 101 and to the dog warden on dog.warden@stockport.gov.uk or call 0161 474 4181. Please don’t report incidents on social media as we won’t be made aware or able to investigate them. Please do so via the correct channels.
