Stay Safe This Mad Friday

Mad Friday is here, the Friday before Christmas. A night filled with festive celebrations, work parties, and a exciting social scene. While it’s a great time to enjoy yourself, safety is key.

Here’s how you can stay safe while enjoying the night-time economy:

1. Plan Your Journey

• Arrange your travel home in advance, whether it’s a taxi, lift with family or friends, or public transport.

• Stick with friends or groups—don’t walk alone.

2. Drink Responsibly

• Know your limits and pace yourself.

• Stay hydrated by alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

3. Look Out for Each Other

• Keep an eye on your friends, especially in crowded areas.

• If someone looks vulnerable or unwell, step in or alert someone who can help.

4. Be Aware

• Stay mindful of your surroundings and keep your valuables secure.

• Avoid confrontations and stay clear of risky situations.

5. Know Who to Contact

• Save important numbers on your phone for taxis or emergencies.

• If you ever feel unsafe, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of us—we’re here to help.

I’ll be out and about in Stockport Town Centre alongside other officers this evening, helping to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night.  If you see me or one of the team, don’t hesitate to say hello or ask for assistance.

Enjoy the festivities, and let’s make this Mad Friday a safe and happy one for all!

Stay safe and happy holidays from Your Local Neighbourhood Team!
