Two arrests made yesterday for a number of offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving with no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence plus possession of class B substance with intent to supply.
Officers have been on patrol on Dane Rd, Sale when a vehicle has passed smelling strongly of cannabis. The patrol has turned around to take a look at the vehicle to which it sped up and turned off the main road. Police lit the blue lights requesting for the vehicle to stop, but its continued, at speed, onto Cross St and Chapel St. A pursuit has been authorised with the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road , through red lights. Its continued to fail to stop on Ashfield Rd and Springfield Rd with it again then driving on the wrong side of Washway Rd, through another set of red lights onto Marsland Rd. The vehicle has eventually been caught by heavy traffic on Brooklands Rd and the two were detained on Framingham Rd due to being blocked in by other motorists.
The two were immediately detained and arrested. The passenger was found with a quantity of green veg matter believed to be cannabis plus the driver alongside the dangerous driving found not to have a full licence.
They were taken to custody to be interviewed about the offence.
Pursuits are continually risk assessed by the Officer who also provide regular commentary updates to ensure minimum risk to the public but also to be able to make arrests for people to decide to drive in this manner and who are involved with the supply of illegal drugs. | ||||
