Several prolific offenders who targeted retail premises have been sentenced yesterday (Wednesday 08/12/2024), the first, charged and remanded with 13 counts of theft.

The retail crime initiative and local neighbourhood teams have been working hard to reduce retail crime and bring those offending to justice and will continue this work. 

Working jointly with Manchester City Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour team (ASBAT) we are now securing Criminal Behaviour orders for those offenders, this order is very powerful and provides both prohibitions and positive requires, if breached carries a custodial sentence. Some prohibitions will exclude offenders from retail locations and in other cases larger areas. 

We want to make the message clear that if you commit crime within the City of Manchester South, we will locate you and use all the tools available to bring you to justice.
