Tameside neighbourhood crime team secure burglary arrest


Early this morning, officers from Tameside’s neighbourhood crime team made an arrest after an investigation into a burglary in Hyde.

We were made aware of a reports of a burglary at a property on Shepley Street in Hyde and reports of criminal damage at a neighbouring property.

Through house-to-house enquiries, officers identified and located a man of interest to their investigation.

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage and remains in custody for questioning by officers.

Detective Sergeant Matt Playford, from GMP's Tameside district, said: "Burglaries are crimes that leave people feeling unsafe in their own home, and I hope this arrest shows that we will investigate, and we will take action against anyone who threatens the safety of our communities.
