Astley Bridge: Burglary Update

Good Afternoon Resident,

I emailed you on Monday in relation to a spate of burglaries, attempted burglaries and theft of vehicle's that the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team are investigating in the Astley Bridge area in recent days. I would like to give you an update on that investigation and reassure you that we are doing all we can to catch those responsible and prevent any further crime in the area. Our priority is to make Astley Bridge a safe place to live.

Firstly, I would like to thank the community of Astley Bridge for supporting our investigation. We have been provided with an extensive amount of CCTV footage from around the area, which is extremely helpful to our investigation. If you have not yet had chance to check your footage from the early hours of Monday morning (29/04/24), please check to see if your camera has picked anything up. No matter how small (unless it's a cat), even just a car driving past your house slowly, it may be relevant to our investigation.

The streets that have been targeted are:

⏩ Old Eagley Mews

⏩ Eagley Bank

⏩ Horrocks Fold

⏩ Templecombe Drive

⏩ Ashworth Lane

⏩ Mackenzie Street

⏩ Sharples Avenue

⏩ Hill Cot Road

⏩ Florence Avenue

If you live on any of these streets, we are really keen to hear from you if you saw anything or have CCTV footage.

Yesterday, in connection with this investigation, we made two arrests. An 18-year-old man and 25-year-old man were both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. They have been released on bail whilst we carry out even further enquiries.

I would like to really stress how important it is to check that all your windows and doors are locked overnight and that keys are moved away from your front door. If you have a keyless entry vehicle, ensure your keys are kept in a Faraday pouch and use a steering lock.
