Safe School Runs & Roadworks Update

As schools reopen across Rochdale, we’d like to welcome families back and offer some timely advice to help ensure a safe and smooth start to the new academic year.

Several roadworks are currently underway or planned in and around Rochdale, including Halifax Road where a temporary 20mph speed limit in effect. 

These works may cause delays or diversions, especially during peak school travel times.

Plan ahead: Check for road closures and allow extra time for your journey.

Use public transport where possible to reduce congestion and improve safety near school gates.

Walk or cycle if you're nearby – it's healthier and helps ease traffic.

Drive and park responsibly: Avoid blocking driveways or stopping in restricted zones.

Your local neighbourhood policing team will be visible in the area to support safe travel, engage with families, and respond to any concerns. We’re here to help ensure a safe and respectful environment for all.
