The Ashton Hurst Neighbourhood Policing Team

Good Evening Ashton Hurst Residents,

Over the last few months there have been some changes on-going in Neighbourhood Policing.

I'm happy to announce that the Ashton Hurst team now has a new Neighbourhood Beat Officer aligned to the ward.

PC Tony Rigby will now oversee the Neighbourhood Beat Officer duties & problem solving for Ashton Hurst, tackling priorities which include;

  • Drug Dealing
  • Burglary
  • Road Traffic Offences
  • PC Rigby replaces PC Ridgway who has moved onto other roles in Greater Manchester Police.

    The Ashton Hurst team also has x3 Police Community Support Officers on the team to support PC Rigby;

    PCSO Ryan Chadwick (myself)
    PCSO Phil Jones
    PCSO Helen Brockett (currently on leave & expected to return at some point in 2024).

    The Team is looked after by Sergeant PC Rob Froggatt who covers the Tameside North Neighbourhood Teams.

    What is the Neighbourhood Policing Team & what do they do?
    Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is a group of local police officers and staff dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of police officers and a dedicated Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). These are supported by additional officers and staff from the wider area.

    We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for your area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on the basics: to fight, prevent and reduce crime, whilst keeping people safe and caring for victims.

    The Tameside North Neighbourhood Teams are;

    Ashton St Peters
    Ashton Town Centre
    Ashton St Michaels
    Ashton Waterloo
    Ashton Hurst

    The Ashton Hurst team will be holding policing surgeries in the near future (locations & dates to be confirmed).
    These are pop up meetings, giving local residents the chance to speak face to face to the local team about problems that are affecting them, someone they know or just to make ourselves aware. Its a chance for ourselves to hear your thoughts about policing in the area which will help shape our priorities for the ward.

    The team work from a small "Police Post" based at the Broaodak & Smallshaw Community Centre, on Broadoak Road along with the Ashton Waterloo & Ashton St Michaels neighbourhood teams. (please note that the police post is not occupied 24/7).

    Kind regards

    From the Ashton Hurst Neighbourhood Policing Team
